// Voronoi Nodes
The homepage has nodes drifting behind it. Same nodes here, same pauses, same made-up IDs and country codes. This time each one owns the patch of page closest to it, a Voronoi diagram, and the patches redraw every frame as the nodes move.
Move your cursor around. The cell you're in lights up, and so do its neighbours' nodes. Leave the mouse alone and it follows the middle of the screen as you scroll. Turn the nodes off to keep just the shapes.

How it works
Every frame starts each cell as the whole canvas, then cuts it in half once for every other node, along the line exactly halfway between the two, keeping the side nearer its own node. What's left is the cell. Every cut remembers which node made it, so each cell knows its neighbours without a second pass. With 60 nodes that's about 3,500 cuts a frame, which is still cheap.
Colours come from the page's own theme, the same way the homepage sketch does it. If your system asks for reduced motion, nothing is drawn.
To do
- Try it as the homepage background in place of the original nodes.
- Touch: tap a cell to light it up, rather than relying on the middle of the screen.
- Weighted cells, so some nodes claim more of the page than others.
Changelog
2026-10-05
- Added a Nodes toggle. Off hides the nodes and their labels and leaves just the cells.
- Initial release: drifting nodes from the homepage sketch, Voronoi cells with dotted edges, the cell under the cursor (or the middle of the screen) lit with its neighbours, and controls for node count, speed, labels, cell edges and shuffle.
I'd love to tell you more. Let's work together.
